## Languages

| Language | Element and window | Size guide label |
|---|---|---|
| English (`en`) | Complete (the source) | "Size guide" |
| Spanish (`es`) | Complete (Spain, neutral enough for Latin America) | "Guía de tallas" |
| French (`fr`) | Complete | "Guide des tailles" |
| German (`de`) | Complete | "Größentabelle" |
| Italian (`it`) | Complete | "Guida alle taglie" |

The inline element, the measuring window (sign-in, measuring, the 3D try-on view), the size guide label and the native buttons are available in all five languages. A language we do not have falls back to English.

## Choosing the language

Web SDK: the `locale` option, on the client or on `elements()`.

```ts
const tys = TryYourSize("pk_live_…", { locale: "es" });
// or: tys.elements({ locale: "auto" })
```

The window uses, in this order:

1. the `locale` option, when you set a language;
2. with `"auto"` (the default), your page's `<html lang>`;
3. the shopper's browser languages;
4. English.

So a shop whose pages already declare `<html lang="fr">` needs no option at all. A region is kept for number and date formatting (`es-MX`, `fr-CA`).

- **React:** `options.locale` on `<TryYourSizeProvider>` (read once, when the client is created).
- **iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter:** the `locale` setting of the client; without it, the device language.
- **Shopify app:** the block follows the storefront's current language (Shopify's `request.locale`).

To check a language, open the window with `?locale=fr` (for example in our Body app at `my.tryyoursize.com/?locale=fr`).

## What is translated

- Everything the shopper reads in the element and the window: sign-in, measuring instructions, the try-on view, errors.
- Units and numbers are formatted per language: ease in cm, pressure in kPa, stretch in % (`2,1 cm`, `18 %` in Spanish, French, German and Italian).
- **Your** product names and size labels are shown as you wrote them.
- Fit is described with objective numbers in every language (ease, pressure, stretch), never with subjective judgements.
- Shoppers are addressed as is usual for fashion retail in each language: *tú* in Spanish, *vous* in French, *du* in German, *tu* in Italian.
